Spam Stock Tracker (Worse than Wall Street!)

If you are as annoyed about "stock spam" as I am, then here’s a website that will make your day: the Spam Stock Tracker.

It was built by Joshua Cyr, chief technology officer for Savvy Software. Josh was curious about how much money he would lose if he followed all of the breathless stock spam he recieves too regularly. So he built a web page that tracks the prices of all the stock spam he recieves, and updates it in real time. It also calculates the total net gains or losses.

What’s the net return? Since May 5th of this year, had you bought 1000 shares of each unsolicited stock spam you recieved (multiples don’t coun’t), you would have lost more than half of your capital.

Stock spam is way worse than Wall Street — down 50% in less than 6 months! It took Wall Street several years to do that — the S&P500 was down about 50% peak to trough (March 2000 to October 2002) — and that was after an 18 year Bull Market.

Its worth noting that out of 47 stocks, there are big 3 winners, 3 break-evens, and 41 losers — and most of those were jumbo losers. More than a third — 14 stocks — were down 75% or more. Hey, even fundamental analysts do better than a 7% success rate, and most of their losers aren’t this huge!

Point of confusion: Am I reading this wrong or are the 3 “beak evens” really “gone bust”? So it’s worse? – I’ll have to save this for my kids as a small scale example of man’s inhumanity to man.

Now you know what to short. Never see any sell recommendations so what to buy is still your guess.

  3. wcw commented on Oct 6

Yeah, but your broker almost certainly won’t let you short that crap. I got a stock spam just today, and I checked: OTC stock trading at $3, but my broker wouldn’t do it. Do you know any that will?

WCW — Remember, to short a stock, you’ve got to find some sucker that OWNS it in order to borrow the shares. Good luck.

There is only 1 big winner:
    LMMG.OB 6.06% winner
    ORTE.PK 12.9% winner
    SNFX.PK 120% winner

On top of that the three Break evens are infact 100% losers: CITCE.OB MTNU.PK WSRM.PK

When I said “won’t let you” I meant most brokers wouldn’t, even if they could find shares to borrow. Many have rules against shorting things like OTC or pink-sheet securities, those trading below $5 or $10, and so on.

To reiterate: does anyone here know a broker who’ll even try to short sub-$5 OTC crap for you?

What is one of the seven deadly sins? It is called “greed”. There is also a very old saying, “A rose by any other name is still a rose”. There is also one other which I am sure some of you hopefully have already guessed. In the end we all answer to God and you can’t take a half-cent with you. And that is the absolute truth. I used to chart stocks(both price and volume). I think someone should teach the teachers how to interpret those figures. In the end the stocks are a guessing game depending on “Universal Economics”. I think I will stick to the Numismatic News. Their analysts seem to know more than all the nefarious neophytes, otherwise known as imps in Webster lingo. Look up imp if you don’t believe me. Thanks and a Good Evening to you all. 10-4.
