It is interesting despite efforts by the Fed to get inflation up that we seem constantly on the verge of deflation. Without immigration our economy would be worst than it is as for 30 years our birthrate was not at replacement levels. And in the last decade only a few years were at replacement levels. And I suspect that second generation immigrates are responsible for that. I remember the popular “Population Bomb” book of the sixties. Boy were they wrong. This scenario is playing out globally. Next time you hear the Trumpster or other con men rant against immigration or try to scare you about hyper inflation remember this little paper.

I don’t see much effort to get inflation up.
