On May 31, I am keynoting the CFA Society conference in the Cayman Islands, discussing the concept of What Misunderstanding Risk Means for Investors.
It is part of a series that the CFA is doing called “Putting Investors First.” Unlike numerous other industry organizations (i.e, FINRA, Wirehouses, etc.), the CFA Institute is a very strong advocate for the Fiduciary standard.
Here is a brief description:
CFA Society Cayman Islands will join with other CFA Societies from around the world to recognize May 2016 as Putting Investors First Month; a global initiative that seeks to build awareness and unite investment professionals in a commitment to place investor interests above all others.
This event will mark the premiere of the Putting Investors First video, featuring local investors and CFA Charterholders, which discusses the importance of striving to put Investors at the forefront of all investment decision-making and highlights the rights that all investors should have. Following the video, Keynote Speaker, Barry Ritholtz, will guide the audience through common misconceptions around risk in the investment decision-making process.
CFA Society Cayman Islands invites you to participate in this global initiative to help call attention to the needs and rights of investors.

If you are anywhere near the Caribbean, I strongly suggest you walk/fly/catamaran over to enjoy what has proven to be an interesting and informative presentation; there are no costs to attend, but reservations are required. And, if you get there a day early, you can go swimming with the Stingrays.
