Can’t I leave the city for a long weekend without you people screwing everything up?

I thought I explained all of this back in May of this year (How Taxi Cab Owners and NYC Regulators Created Uber), on the anniversary of Uber’s NYC launch.

In my absence, Adrienne Adams, a member of the New York City Council, has published a deeply misguided New York Times Op-Ed lamenting the rise of Uber and Lyft in the city. Perhaps a few words will allow readers to better understand why the horrific state of taxi service in New York City is in large part the fault of the NYC Council, and why her attempts to thwart market forces are only going to make things worse . . .
