Best part of the whole talk comes towards the end of part 5, when Volcker is asked a multi-part question “If a dollar crisis unfolds, what would be the possible scenario…what would it look like….implications…how to prevent it?…or are we already in one?”
Volcker pauses…
scratches his head and says”… we’re in it, you don’t have to predict it, you’re in it!”
silence…
slight laughter by the audience
end of talk.
Can’t be more blunt than that.
I don’t know if our government officials (outside the fed) are in denial or just totally ignorant…probably both. The fed I’m sure knows what is going to happen, but can’t let the sheeple know.
Barry, a major under-reported story is the plunge in the Shanghai composite this year. Do you any people who invest there and what are the implications for the global economy?
would disagree that we’re in a dollar crisis now. Wait until summer, when we’re absolutely buried in Treasuries as Treasury financing requirements leave orbit. Then we’ll know what a dollar crisis really means.
