We interrupt this blog post for a brief commercial message: We have been fielding phone calls from lots and lots of people who have been utterly demolished by their brokers and financial advisers. The amount of carnage is rather shocking.
A few thoughts which might provide some small measure of comfort:
-The vast majority of fund and asset managers got destroyed this year. They simply did not see this coming, and are now getting crushed. So if you are hurting, you are not alone.
-The time to plan for emergencies is when everything is going well; The time to plan for recoveries is when everything is going to hell in a handbasket.
-Don’t beat yourself up over this. Instead, learn from the losses and move on.
If any one wants a review of their portfolio, along with a discussion about our asset management approach, you can email myself and Joe Fitzgerald, who is one of our managing directors. (replace the words AT and DOT with the proper symbols)
