Estimates of the amount of oil spilling into the gulf from the collapsed BP rig have been all over the map, and still no one seems to have an accurate assessment.
So forgive me if I’m not particularly heartened to learn that BP is now capturing half of some number that has never been fully quantified. To be clear, it’s good that oil is being captured, but hard numbers have been exceedingly hard to come by, and consequently the notion of “half” begs the question, “of what?”
