With Thanksgiving coming up this week, I guess its time to start thinking about gifts for loved ones or yourself. I’m a big fan of the Panasonic Lumix with Leica lens line of compact cameras — we’ve discussed them many times over the years (most recently, here). Amazon is having a one day half price sale on their higher end line of DSLM cameras (Digital single-lens reflex) — they are nicely priced and garner good reviews. A comparable Nikon or Canon typically runs 50% more in price similarly configured under normal circumstances.
Today, Amazon is running a one day sale, and it looks to be a damned good one: These two Lumix DSLM cameras are on sale at a terrific price of 50% off.
The one I just ordered for my wife is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF3 (with 12 MP Micro 4/3 Compact System Camera with 3-Inch Touchscreen LCD and 14-42mm Zoom Lens); its normally $549.99, but Amazon has it for $279.99 — it is a steal for a touchscreen, fully configured DLSM.
I’ll spare you the superlatives — you can check out the details at Amazon or see these reviews at Digital Photography, Photography blog and C/NET.
If you want to step it up to something bigger, badder, and bulkier, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2(16.05 MP Live MOS Interchangeable Lens Camera with 3-inch Free-Angle Touch Screen LCD and 14-42mm Hybrid Lens) is pretty bad ass camera. Its normally $999.95, but today only its $499.99, Details are at Amazon, and reviews here and here.
