In this week’s “Masters in Business” podcast, I speak with Lakshman Achuthan of Economic Cycle Research Institute, better known as ECRI.
Achuthan is the Co-Founder & Chief Operations Officer of ECRI, managing editor of ECRI’s forecasting publications. He is also a member of Time magazine’s board of economists and the Levy Institute’s Board of Governors. He is the author of Beating the Business Cycle: How to Predict and Profit From Turning Points in the Economy.
In our conversation, we discuss what a recession actually is, how best to identify them in real time, and when governments should — and should not — see to avoid them. We also discuss the NYT profile from several years ago that helped increase their recognition beyond the institutions governments, and central banks who rely their research.
You can livestream the radio show, or download the 93 minute podcast here or on iTunes, or stream it at SoundCloud. (Note: These may not show up for a full hours). All of our prior podcasts are also available on Apple iTunes.
Next week, we speak with appraiser and real estate analytics expert Jonathan Miller of Miller Samuel.
