I have experienced this personally. A number of years ago I was in a pointless internal committee meeting on something. I got very bored, and started providing my essential contributions to the meeting by simply seeing how many words of corporate-speak jargon I could put together in a sentence. After the meeting, a person that I work closely with asked me if I had gotten bored because I suddenly started speaking very differently than I normally do. I said yes and asked if he thought anybody else noticed. He said no – instead they were all nodding along with my comments as if they were pearls of wisdom. People actually responded to and built on my comments which was the funniest part of the meeting.
