George Shearing was born on August 13, 1919. The British born jazz pianist emigrated to the US after Wordl War 2, and recorded for Discovery Records, MGM Records and Capitol Records.
He was blind since birth, and composed 300+ titles, including the jazz standard “Lullaby of Birdland”, had multiple albums on the Billboard charts during the 1950s, 1960s, 1980s and 1990s.
