Be sure to read Paul Brodsky’s Towards Capitalus in the Think Tank.
This little Fable has a moral, again borrowed out of context from Wallace Stegner: “You can’t trust optics but you can depend on appetite.” Private incentives do not die regardless of how much some at the top may want them to, and these private incentives will ultimately distribute wealth back to the factors of production wherever they are and regardless of how hard powerful men acting together try to stop it.
