A little counter-programming for those of you not watching the big game:
In a candid moment, filmmaker Eric Preston, founder and producer at Fusion Films, rolls his camera as Dr. Richard Dawkins – Author, Professor and Evolutionary Biologist – again reads “fan mail” he has received from some of his not-so-great admirers. (Parental Discretion is Advised!)
Love Letters to Richard Dawkins
Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason & Science, April 11th, 2014
Apocryphal Warning: Their vote is worth as much as yours.
… just as job applicants are blindsided when the interviewer asks them about particularly offensive social media posts they have made (did they think that no one read them, or that they were “anonymous”?), one might, in whimsical moments of fantasy, imagine the authors of these “love letters” being asked about them by the gatekeeper to their afterlife …
That was unexpectedly hilarious. Not sure what was funnier: the utter seriousness with which Dawkins reads this stuff, or the chortling offscreen of the people working the camera.
I’m gonna give the edge to Dawkins: something about somebody reading the unhinged rantings of idiots in a refined British accent is funny as hell.
I agree, it was better than I expected.
This was great. I like his prim and proper-ness and his totally nerdy pronunciation of ‘lol’ like ‘loll’ and ‘beatch’ like I’m not sure what. Pretty funny, indeed.
Ah, the ignorance knows no bounds like that borne from cowardice of anonymity! Glad you shared… delighful to see Dr. Dawkins humoured by these children of a lesser God.
