1970 Maserati Ghibli 4.7 Spyder

The Maserati Ghibli was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, and conceived of as a luxurious sporting GT. The mid-mounted, 4,719-cc V-8 engine made 330 hp, and was mated to a 5-speed ZF manual. Long and lean, with a hood that goes on forever, and an airplane cockpit for a dashboard, the influence of the E-Type Jaguar is evident.

Only 125 Ghibli Spyders were produced. Originally, the Ghibli was a fastback coupé (1967), and the spyder came along in 1969, running until 1973. The large windowed factory hardtop made this an all-season driver, and is exceedingly rare — only 20 to 25 Ghibli Spyders were sold with the factory-made hard-top.  The Dark Blue exterior over a white leather interior is quite striking.

A similar black over white Spyder was sold in 2018 for €708,125 EUR — just about what the one below went for this week.
