MiB: Mohamed El-Erian on the Global Economy

In our latest Masters in Business podcast, we speak with Mohamed El-Erian, chief economic adviser at Allianz (he is also the former chief executive officer and co-chief investment officer of Pacific Investment Management Co., owned by Allianz).

El-Erian spent 15 years at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, where he served as deputy director. He is chairman of the president’s Global Development Council; Foreign Policy named him to its Top 100 Global Thinkers list and called him one of the 500 most powerful people on the planet.

His book, “When Markets Collide: Investment Strategies for the Age of Global Economic Change,” was a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller, and won the Financial Times and Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award in 2008. His new book is titled “The Only Game in Town: Central Banks, Instability, and Avoiding the Next Collapse.” El-Erian also is a fellow Bloomberg View columnist and publishes regular commentary at the FT.

You will find our conversation on the state of the global economy to be fascinating and enlightening — my only criticism is that it was too brief.
